30 Cuban Performing Arts Programs
30 Cuban Performing Arts Programs
Visually and conceptually fascinating, Cuban national revolutionary graphics during this period were notable for the plurality of their design. These examples display the influences of Pop and Op art, minimalism, montage, and collage as well as inventive experiments with the form of the program itself. Profusely illustrated, characteristic examples of Cuban post-revolutionary design are coupled with distinctive, often lengthy, “program notes” that contextualize each event within Communist Party doctrine. Most published by the Consejo Nacional de Cultura and printed at the Talleres de CNC, many with identified graphic designers and illustrators, including 10 programs by Ricardo Reymena and others by Rafael Zarza, Aldo Dario Menendez, José Villa and Juan Boza Sánchez. Most approx. 10-12 pp., some 18-22 pp. Color self-wrpps. Sizes vary: small 8vo to 4to. Havana 1964-1976. Together with 3 additional programs dated 1981-1989. SOLD
