Bases y Propósitos de la Federación Abolicionista Internacíonal [...]

(Prostitution) (Uruguay) (Feminism) Luisi, Paulina. Bases y Propósitos de la Federación Abolicionista Internacíonal: Palabras pronunicadas en la 1a. asamblea de la sección argentina, verificada el día 27 de febrero de 1919. Buenos Aires: Juan Perrotti, 1919. 7-¼ x 5-516 in., 25 pp.; small loss to p. 7; stapled brown wrapper, sunned. Luisi was the first woman to earn a medical degree in Uruguay and a leader of the feminist movement there. She was close with Josephine Butler, founder of the International Abolitionist Federation, and worked on their behalf in South America. They campaigned against international trafficking and to protect the rights of women in prostitution. Though they were against prostitution they believed the remedy lay in education and social reforms, not state regulation. One in a series of eight independent publications issued by the Comité Uruguayo-Argentino, Federación Abolicionista Internacíonal. OCLC records limited holdings of any of the publications, mostly in Switzerland (where the IAF was headquartered). One? physical copy of the present booklet is located by OCLC in North America - Univ. of Arizona. SOLD
