Educación Femenina

Madam H. Loved (Pseud.). Educación Femenina. Mexico: Librería de la Viuda de Ch. Bouret, 1914. 17 cm, 212, VIII, IV, [1] pp.; half calf, pictorial boards, rubbed with surface losses, corners bumped.` Reactionary antifeminist screed written pseudonymously, possibly by a female teacher, but more likely by Julio S. Hernandez, a nationally respected primary school educator and secretary of the Society of Pedagogical Studies. His other pedagogical works are advertised inside (ironically many published by a woman [la Viuda de Ch. Bouret]). Author protests the increasing education of girls, leading to adult women who have forgotten their “moral education” and their “natural” mission to make other people happy: “La mujer se ha olvidad por completo de que su misión es única y grandiosa, que es, y será siempre, hacer la felicidad de los que la rodean, sacrificando su propia personalidad por el bien de los suyos.” Hernandez published many articles by this feminine alter-ego Loved in other volumes. Not recorded in OCLC. SOLD
